Vegetables that cats can and cannot eat

Vegetables that cats can and cannot eat

Hi! this is duz 🤗

Cats are carnivores that supplement nutrients while eating meat, so eating a lot of vegetarian food can cause health problems.

However, the right amount of vegetables is helpful for cats because they help them eat ingredients that they cannot eat with meat.

Then, I would like to find out which vegetables cats should not eat and which vegetables they can eat.

《Vegetables for cats to eat》

①Tomato

Tomatoes contain a lot of moisture and are good vegetables for people who prevent aging due to their antioxidant properties.🍅

In conclusion, cats can also eat tomatoes.

However, there is a high possibility that cats don't like sour taste because they tend to hate it.

However, if you are a cat who likes tomatoes, you can pay me a small amount 😊

Ripe tomatoes have no toxic substances that cause cats to show symptoms of addiction, but the ingredient "tomatin" present in undercooked tomatoes is a harmful ingredient.

If symptoms of tomatin poisoning appear, diarrhea, vomiting, bloody excrement, shortness of breath and dermatitis may occur, so when supplying tomatoes to cats, ⚠️please choose ripe tomatoes and provide them.⚠️

Also, if cats consume large amounts of tomatoes, they can develop gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting and diarrhea.

When you feed a cat tomatoes, the amount of cherry tomatoes is just enough to feed, and the skin of the tomatoes is difficult to digest, so please peel and chop them into small pieces. 😀

②Cabbage

cabbage are high in water content and rich in dietary fiber, so you can feel full even in small amounts, so if you mix them with feed or as a snack, they are vegetables that help obese cats control their weight. 🥬

These fibrous vegetables are difficult for cats to digest, so please cut them into small pieces and feed them. In the case of cabbage, if you feed them raw, you may develop constipation, so please cool them down sufficiently after boiling. 😉

However, if you eat a lot of cabbage, your thyroid function may deteriorate, and if you eat a lot of cabbage, you may have urinary stones, so please pay only in quantities.

③Sweet Pumpkin

Pumpkins contain a lot of fiber, which helps prevent constipation in cats and makes you feel full even in small amounts, which can also help you lose weight 🎃

Pumpkins contain beneficial ingredients such as vitamins A, C, E, K and potassium, and dietary fiber that can help cats' health.

However, while sweet pumpkin is not a high calorie, assuming it is consumed by humans at 66 calories per 100 grams, it is quite a high calorie considering the amount of calories a cat has to consume per day.

(*The amount of calories a cat should consume per day: 160 kcal based on 3 kg cat)
Therefore, it is recommended that you pay about one spoon of sweet pumpkin once a day.

④Broccoli

Broccoli, rich in vitamins and dietary fiber, is a good vegetable for cats to eat 🥦

However, there are precautions when serving broccoli.

First of all, you should not ❌ pay a cat that is allergic to broccoli or a cat that is young or old, a cat with hypothyroidism and a cat with kidney disease. ❌

In particular, broccoli has a component called goitrogen.

You should never pay cats with hypothyroidism because this ingredient can degrade the function of the thyroid gland.

Also, broccoli contains a lot of phosphorus, so it can be poisonous to cats with kidney disease.

When serving broccoli, you have to chop it, cook it slightly, except for the hard parts, and then pay it.

Consuming the same amount of vegetables as the other vegetables mentioned earlier does not help cats, so please feed them a small amount of broccoli.

Garlic, green onions, and onions

Spicy vegetables such as garlic, green onions, and onions are vegetables that cats should not eat.

These vegetables contain an ingredient called "thiosulfate," which oxidizes hemoglobin to destroy red blood cells.

This leads to hemolytic anemia and liver damage.

Since thiosulfate is not an ingredient that is destroyed even when heated ❌You should not feed it even if it is cooked ❌

So far, we've learned about vegetables that cats can and shouldn't eat.

Cats are carnivores, so there were many things to pay attention to when providing vegetables, and vegetables that should not be consumed were similar to dogs.

I hope today's posting helped you guys living with your cat and I'll come back with a helpful one next time.

Have a great day with the duz '◡'
