Germany's Pet-Related Laws (feat. Dog Tax)

Germany's Pet-Related Laws (feat. Dog Tax)

Hi! This is duz😉

In the last post, we learned about various pet adoption cultures in foreign countries.

Today, we will learn about 😇 Germany's pet culture, which is called the "Puppy Heaven" among many countries.

《Dog walking regulationss》

First, let's take a look at the current laws and regulations related to dog walking. 🧐

Dog carers in Germany are required to walk their dogs twice a day, for at least an hour 🐾

Simply walking around the garden of the house is irreplaceable as a walking activity. 🙅

If the guardian cannot walk, the dog should be allowed to walk through someone to replace the guardian.

In addition, there is a law that requires you not to put on a leash for a long time, not leave it alone all day, and spend at least four hours a day together to socialize your dog.

《An examination for a dog's license》

In Germany, depending on the state, there is a test called Sachkundenachweis or Hundeführerschein to ask for dog adoption qualifications.

It is said to be a test to prove that the companion knows well about the dog, can control the dog, and that it will not harm others and other animals while being with the dog ✍

This test is divided into a theoretical test and a practical test.

The theoretical test must pass before adopting a dog, and the practical test must pass within one year of adopting a dog.

The theoretical test asks about the nature and behavior of dogs, the proper behavior of people when dealing with them, and the laws related to dogs, and the practical test checks how well they can control dogs, how to deal with crises, and how to deal with leashes.

《A dog registration system》

Germany is the world's most thorough pet registration country, and in Germany, dogs must be registered in the national management system.

The dog's registration number must be marked with a built-in chip or tattoo, and the dog must be issued a certified veterinary certificate recording the registration number, infectious disease vaccination information, and blood test results. 🙂

In Germany, the process of registering a pet costs a lot of money and time, so you have to adopt a dog carefully.

If you do not register your dog, you will have to pay 5,000 euros (about 7 million won) as a fine.

《Dog Tax》

The state manages the state by collecting taxes from the people and establishes national welfare policies. 🙂

In Germany, dogs are also on par with citizens, so they have to pay taxes to give citizens their obligations and rights.

Therefore, German pets pay a dog tax called Hunsteuer every year.

The dog tax is said to be used as a budget for park management, restoration of public facilities, road cleaning, maintenance of dog free zones, and maintenance and maintenance of animal shelters. 🥰

Some states don't charge this dog tax, and the tax you charge may vary from state to state.

If you are a rescue dog, a detection dog, or a blind guide dog, you will be exempted from taxes.

Also, if you adopt from an animal shelter (Tierheim), you will be given a tax reduction.

《Dog insurance obligation》

In Germany, those who raise dogs are obligated to subscribe to the dog owner's liability insurance (liability insurance). 😌

If a third party is damaged by a dog, it is an insurance that can compensate for the damage of the third party.

While not mandatory in all German states, six states - Berlin, Hamburg, Lower Saxon, Saxon-Anhalt, Threswig-Holstein and Thuringen - are obligated to buy liability insurance.

However, regardless of whether or not you have this insurance, in Germany, if a dog causes damage to a third party, the companion must compensate for any damage. 😮

So far, we've taken some time to learn about the laws and regulations related to pets in Germany.

It seems that there are many laws and regulations related to pets so that the nickname "Puppy Heaven" is not overshadowed.

I hope today's post was helpful to you and I'll come back with another informative and interesting post :) 💙

Have a great day with duz '◡'
